The problem with small gifts, is they don’t have quite the same impact (as larger presents) in presentation. And I love to give handmade rings, pendants and trinkets. This Faux Marble Gift Box is the perfectly stylish way to deliver that special person that special present, in a very special gift box.
To make this Faux Marble Gift Box I just needed a plain, wooden box (mine is bamboo),
A sheet of marble-patterned adhesive vinyl (from the scrapbooking department),
A pencil and a pair of scissors.
To start my Faux Marble Gift Box DIY, I took the lid off of the box. Then, I unpackaged my marble-patterned adhesive vinyl. I turned my sheet of adhesive vinyl over.
I took the lid of the box off. Then, I placed each side (of the box) on to the backside of the adhesive vinyl, one at a time, before tracing the outer edge (of each side) with a pencil. Each time I was sure to encorporate the existing edge (of the adhesive vinyl) and to carefully trace each other edge.
When each side of the box was traced on to the backside of the adhesive vinyl, I was ready to cut them out. Using my scissors, I carefully cut within the pencil marks.
Once all of the parts were cut out, it was time to apply them. I removed the paper backing (from the backside of each piece of adhesive vinyl) before applying them to each coordinating side. Gingerly, I smoothed the vinyl on to the wooden box, pressing any bubbles out as I pressed the vinyl to the box.
