Funny Cat Dream No 11 –
Noir Detective Agency
In The Thin Man movie series, William Powell and Myrna Loy are captivating as a socialite-couple/dectives, and you might think (them being the stars, and all) that they solve all of the crimes, and make all the major breakthroughs. But, you’d be wrong. This noir detective duo would be lost without their genius dog (and third partner), Asta.
Asta finds weapons, bodies, clues; Asta is the perfect lookout, and so clever at misdirection.
I mean, I could do that. At the very least, Cliff Tarpey and I could work together to solve crimes, and stuff. Don’t tell him I said this, but Cliff Tarpey is actually quite a clever cat, and impresses me with his intelligence, all the time. Just last week, he solved the mystery of The Late Dinner (it turned out Angelo had to buy more).
After watching Asta, in The Thin Man, we watched some more noir detective movies, and noticed that the only thing that was missing was a crime solving animal partner. The case in The Maltese Falcon would’ve been wrapped up quickly with a cat detective (all that insider bird-knowledge, alone!).
So, Cliff Tarpey and I will just have to fill this spot, in the market, ourselves. I’m sure we’ll get hired, all the time. We won’t fall in love with our dame-clients. We could pull all night stake-outs, in the darkness, no problem. Sniff out clues and bodies (just like Asta!).
Sarah just told me you stay awake, ALL NIGHT, during a stake-out. So, ok, we we’ll have to catch them pretty soon into the stake-out, I guess (Cliff Tarpey is super-smart, but not great at staying alert for long periods of time).
My only question is : when do we turn black-and-white?
(See, we’re in black-and-white in this cat dream photo gallery, Sarah put together. But, when I look around, it’s still color. Do we have to get the office, first? Does the damsel turn things black-and-white? Maybe Cliff Tarpey knows)
